RealGear GTpro3 Xtreme Tilton Floor Mount 3-Pedal Set

Category:

Ask almost any serious sim-racer today about immersion and realism whilst sim-racing and most will tell you just how important a great set of pedals are for their sim-racing needs. To this end, we here at Ricmotech have gone to extreme lengths to cater to those needs and we are rightfully proud to introduce our ‘’REAL GEAR’’ GTpro3 Xtreme Tilton Floor Mount Pedals to the global sim-racing community.

We began our GTpro3 Xtreme story when choosing a pedal frame on which to base our newest product. There was no better place to start this process than by choosing the Tilton 600 Series pedal frames! These frames are engineered and produced for real world auto-sport uses and are coveted the world over for their build quality and reliability. This no-compromise process was then applied to all of the components which went into making up the GTpro3 Xtreme Tilton Floor Mount Pedals.

Due to our strong belief in ultimate immersion, Ricmotech took an automotive engineering approach as we designed our latest pedals. We pride ourselves in offering our customers the most authentic sim-racing experience possible in a totally uncompromised pedal set. Our philosophy is not to imitate, but rather produce what all race drivers have at their disposal, real racing equipment! The end results are arguably the most accurate feeling sim-racing pedals on the market today!

Tilton 600 Series Pedal Frame

During our exhaustive testing sessions, the Tilton 600 series proved to have the best geometry of all the pedal sets tested. Due to their considered design, the pedal arms have exactly the right amount of set back, allowing for comfortable placement of your heels whilst sim-racing. Pivot points are precision machined for smooth and trouble-free operation. The perfectly formed curved pedal faces are vertically and horizontally adjustable, ensuring constant and confident foot contact which just feels right, and can cater to almost any sim-racer’s needs.

Throttle Pedal

The Tilton 600’s throttle pedal already houses a factory fitted throttle return spring, however in the interests of immersion, we have re-machined this area. Adding an additional spring which affords a more accurate feeling and eliminates overly stiff pedal travel. This extra spring allows for the finesses required when modulating the throttle under all driving conditions. Being a floor mounted pedal, it perfectly follows the geometry of your ankle whilst in operation. Dependant upon driving style, the adjustable throw, idle and full-throttle stops, as well as the electronics are all designed to take full advantage of the available pedal travel. Additionally, the throttle pedal actuates a ‘’Honeywell’’ industrial strength hall sensor, which has a lifetime cycle rating for trouble-free operation.

Brake Pedal

The most critical pedal in real and sim-racing set-ups is the brake pedal. We have analysed what takes place mechanically whilst braking in real-world situations and then transferred this knowledge to our design, replicating what occurs within each component of the braking system. This includes the master and slave cylinders as well as the brake-lines, callipers and brake discs. The slave cylinder itself has been uniquely modified to replicate the forces generated in real-world braking situations. The result is a compact system with an incredible amount of accuracy, replicating the sensations generated whilst under stress. Perhaps more importantly, it also replicates these sensations when this stress is released. This translates into our GTpro3 Xtreme pedals providing the driver with unparalleled realism that can only be found in real world race cars!
Braking in a race car requires a large amount of force to effectively slow a car for a corner. To this end, we have opted to offer the GTpro3 Xtreme pedals with three load ranges centered at 45kg (100lbs), 80kg (175 lbs) and 160kg (350 lbs) which can be infinitely dialed in for stiffness and travel. User interchangeable resistance modules on the slave cylinder assembly enable the user to tailor the feel of the brake pedal. This adjustability can replicate anything from a high performance street car to an F1 car. Operated by hydraulic fluid, the master cylinder interacts with the uniquely modified slave cylinder which has been fitted with an all stainless steel pressure sensor, ultimately transmitting this information to the ECU for further processing.

As a result of our unique design, the brake pedal transmits every nuance and sensation of a real race car’s braking system. The feeling of the brake pads approaching the discs, the exact moment the pads make contact, all the while every component flexes and stresses as the car decelerates. The entirety of this experience gives the driver valuable feedback not available in any other pedal set on the market today.

Clutch Pedal

Clutch Pedal

Perhaps our biggest achievement with the GTpro3 Xtreme pedals, is the clutch feeling. Through our analysis of the mechanics involved, we have managed to correctly replicate a clutch with a true race car feel! Normally speaking, a road going vehicle’s clutch assists the driver by way of a complex mechanism, designed to relieve pressure whilst the vehicle is stationary, thus eliminating driver fatigue.

Without this mechanism in place, the only forces acting against the race car’s clutch pedal are that of the clutch pressure plate. Creating the feeling of a race car’s clutch involved choosing the perfect spring to replicate the pressure plate’s diaphragm shape. The GTpro3 Xtreme’s clutch uses similarly shaped diaphragm springs with high initial effort, while reducing the force required as the spring is flattened. Depressing the clutch pedal actuates a pneumatic master cylinder, which utilises a pressure sensor, rather than a position sensor to uniquely determine clutch engagement the way a real hydraulic clutch system operates. Proudly, we have created the most realistic sensation of a race car clutch pedal providing the correct feedback to nail every shift . . . every time!

Electronic Control Unit

Electronic Control UnitOur in-house designed ECU is the most advanced pedal control unit on the market. Interfacing with the PC, no third-party software is required to run on your PC to perform any calibrations or adjustments to your pedals. The ECU receives all the position readings from the pedals and processes them prior to sending them to the PC over the USB port, utilising its internal 16mhz microcontroller at its core. Capable of performing over 15,000 pedal reads per second and analysing this vast amount of information to extrapolate the smoothest and most accurate pedal position information possible. The ECU is also capable of sending up to 1,000 pedal position updates to the PC every second, but only when required in order to conserve bandwidth. Keeping the pedals in a steady position, updates to the PC are not required. This allows other USB devices to transmit data uninterruptedly.
The ECU stores configuration parameters and profile settings in non-volatile EEPROM memory. These settings are retained if the pedals are unplugged or moved to a another PC. The user can create five different configuration profiles and store them in the ECU for easy retrieval. In addition, using a simple programming switch, the pedals can be configured without the need for software and without exiting the game. Individually configurable dead zones and linearity curves allows the user to tailor the throttle, brake and clutch characteristics to any type of race car. The brake and throttle have adjustable smoothing settings to facilitate the smoothest pedal responses for each individual’s driving style. When not in use, disengaging the clutch allocates more processing power to the remaining pedals. Additionally, a port to attach an optional handbrake is available which possess many of the same adjustable parameters.

Mounting options

The pedals are designed to custom mount into your sim-racing rig. All three pedals mount directly to the floor of your sim-rig. The optional base plate is pre-drilled for mounting to standard rigs using the hole locations of the Logitech G25/27/29 hard mount locations. Mounting hardware is included.
